Doug Montoya
The Biography
Doug boasts over three decades of improv experience, mentored by Groundlings' Ron Wilson and trained in acting under Duke Stroud and Whitney Rydbeck. He co-founded The Box, Albuquerque’s premier comedy improv hub, hosting esteemed performers like Bob Odenkirk and Kevin McDonald. The Box's improv classes have garnered local acclaim, instructing numerous students. He's the co-artistic director of Cardboard Playhouse Theatre Company (CPTC), leading diverse roles from directing to set design and acting. Doug takes pride in fostering young artists within CPTC, nurturing their growth. His daughter, Kelsey Leos Montoya, an actor and filmmaker, inspired him to establish CPTC, providing a creative platform for youngsters like her. Kelsey, a cast member of "Third Act," now directs several Cardboard Playhouse productions.
