The feature film begins with the brief reign of Prince Gábor Báthori. The newly elected Gábor Bethlen attempts to rectify his mistakes. His struggle against foreign intrigue is reminiscent of the present day. He must reconcile his personal problems with internal resistance, which is also relevant today. He succeeds in securing Transylvania's independence
